Join Loren in sewing the Florence Pants by Elizabeth Suzann!

This class is perfect if you are beginning your garment sewing journey or if you would like to learn and improve upon your skills. During this class you will be guided through the steps for sewing these fantastic pants while learning some tips and tricks to add to your sewing arsenal. The skills you will learn are: how measure yourself, choose the correct pattern size, cut your pattern, how to sew French seams for a fully finished garment, how to attach an elastic waistband, how to adjust the length of your pants and sew a hem.

This class is suitable for confident beginners and above - you must have some experience and be able to thread your sewing machine, wind and insert the bobbin, and sew a straight stitch and back-tack. It is recommended that this is NOT your first garment.

The class fee is $190 and the kit fee (required) is $30 for the printed PDF pattern and elastic, for a total of $220.

This is a two session class (1/19 and 1/26 from 9AM-1PM). There will be a small homework assignment between sessions.

During the first class we will spend time measuring and choosing sizes. To allow us to start cutting right after that, we ask that you come to class with your fabric picked out and washed. Fabric requirements based on sizes are listed below. Please do your best to measure yourself at home and get a rough idea of your size before purchasing fabric.
Then in class you can consult with Loren before committing to a size and cutting out the pattern! The amounts listed are guidelines based off the pattern requirements and Loren's experience sewing the garment. If you prefer a pant that has more ease (is looser fitting), size up!

If you have any questions about how much fabric or what kind of fabric to get, please feel free to stop in the shop or give us a call!! :)

Loren has a waist measurement of 31 inches and hip of 41 inches. She is pictured wearing green pants in a size large and brown pants in a size extra large. Both are sewn in Brussels Washer and lengthened about 5 inches.

What to Bring:

- Prewashed, dried and ironed fabric. Suggested fabrics are Brussels Washer(Linen/ Rayon), 100% Linen, Essex (Linen/Cotton Blend), Brushed Cotton Twill, Small Whale Corduroy, Horizon Lyocell, or Fableism Cotton. We also recommend  any medium-weight fabrics with no stretch. Linen, cotton, hemp, in plain weaves or canvas will work well. Lighter weight fabrics will add more drape, and heavier fabrics will result in a more structured garment.

- Coordinating thread

- Basic tools (such as pins, marking tools, etc.) are provided in our studio for students. We do recommend that you bring your own pair of scissors if you have them.

- Machine accessories (foot pedal, power cord, bobbins, manual)

We recommend bringing your own machine so you can continue to learn the ins and outs of sewing on your home machine! If you need, we offer studio machines to use upon request. Machines are limited. Please feel free to reach out to us at  for more info.

We require a minimum of 3 students to hold the class. If you need to cancel within 1 week of the class, you will received store credit.
